As the former summer residence of Emperor Franz Josef, Bad Ischl can look back at a long history. Above all, the Kaiservilla (imperial villa) is now a visitor magnet for many Franz and Sisi fans. But many other famous personalities such as Adalbert Stifter, Johann Nestroy, Emmerich Kalman, Johann Strauss or Anton Bruckner were inspired in Bad Ischl.
Further attractions are the delicious cakes in the famous confectionists Konditorei Zauner, the newly renovated spacious EurothermenResort spa and the Katrin cable car. As spa and operetta town, each summer Bad Ischl presents the Lehar Festival with classics such as "The Merry Widow" or "The Land of Smiles". A tip is also the Boogie 'n' Blues Festival "Shake the Lake" where it really swings and grooves every summer.
